Eden House - where children
are grounded to grow
and thrive

Eden House is being established in Knysna as a place where vulnerable children can enter a caring and supportive environment where they can heal and thrive. We place a strong emphasis on skills development, preparing our children for adulthood through on-site training in technology, hospitality and artisan trades.

South Africa faces a profound child-care crisis.

•  2.8 million children have lost one or both parents
•  Nearly 1 in 5 children live without either biological parent
•  Only about 18,000 children live in registered Child and Youth Care Centres

Many children remain in unsafe, unstable environments with few alternatives. The need for safe, well-governed residential care far exceeds the spaces available — including here in Knysna.

We are building Eden House from scratch, deliberately. Before any children are admitted, we are putting the right foundations in place — strong leadership, clear structures, and proper accountability.

This is not just about providing a bed. It’s about creating a home where children can experience stability, build trust, and begin to feel safe again.

Where we are now

With the property now secured, we are focusing our efforts on establishing a base of monthly contributors. If people sign up right now, that will go a long way in covering the costs for the preparation of the property for the children. This will include securing the property with a wall and electric fence, expanding bathrooms, enlarging and subdividing bedrooms, replacing carpets with durable vinyl flooring, and carrying out the renovations and repairs needed to create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
